Hats
Women have worn hats for a variety of different reasons throughout history. In the 19th century women of upper class families would wear big, very decorative hats to parties. These hats go with the womans attire, but also show off the womans class level and sense of clothing style. Hats were also worn by low class women at work to shade their eyes from the sun and keep dirt out of their hair, sometimes using the hat to hide their hair and work as a man, at a mans job.
In modern day, women don't wear fancy hats so much anymore, but more often wear them for practical purposes such as shielding the sun from their eyes, holding their hair out of their face by tucking it under the hat, and in certain social circles worn as a fashion statement or support for a sports team.
